The second half of May 2025 promises a welcome adventure highlighted by the allure of Cape Town, the unpredictable sights of a week in a safari lodge, the wonder of Victoria Falls on the Zambia/Zimbabwe border all capped by 4 days of camaraderie and reflection at a masonic conference in Livingstone, Zambia.

During our first 5 days, we will tour the sights and sounds of South Africa’s capital city, Cape Town, taste the famed cuisine and walk the picturesque waterfront. The hinterland produces the region’s renowned wines and a day spent in the vineyards will be relaxing way to chill and exercise the tastebuds. Robben’s Island is a must go landmark, a lesson in history, domination, courage and the eventual triumph of humanity. Cape Town also offers our best opportunity to sample the varied fashion, accessories and souvenirs to be worn, shared and kept as memorabilia from the once in a life time trip.

Our second week takes us into the well-preserved wildlife of the Kreuger region where our days will feature daily drives and walks to spot big game animals, birds and the natural phenomena unique to the area. Our days of exploration will end at a comfortable all-inclusive safari lodge which promises customized cuisine, fine liquors, entertainment and plush rooms. End of day will be the perfect time to share the day’s pictures, update friends and publish the blog of the day.

The next phase of the trip takes us to Livingstone in Southern Zambia, the closest town to the Victoria Falls on the Zambia-Zimbabwe border. This is one of the great wonders and is every bit as amazing as Niagara Falls on the USA-Canada border. Even if the weather is unkind on the day of the scheduled visit, there may well be time to make follow-up visits as Livingstone will be our base for the week.

May 26-29 is the scheduled 5th International Scottish Masonic Conference, It also holds great promise and will follow the format and standards set in previous meetings in The Bahamas and in Edinburgh, Scotland. It is a great refresher for Scottish and other freemasons and a perfect meeting point for Caribbean, Scottish and African members of the Scottish and other constitutions. I expect thought-provoking presentations and merry meetings with an African flavour.
